Avatar beats Titanic

James Cameron bested James Cameron. And no surprise there: Avatar is one of the few movies I wanted to see again even before it was over! Read more here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/culture/film/film-news/7085343/Avatar-leaves-Titanic-in-its-wake-at-box-office.html.

Avatar 3D

Why is it that a movie with such a simplistic, overused (see Pocahontas, Dancing with Wolves, The Unbeliever Chronicles) and un-twisty plot can make such an impression? As a writer, I feel both baffled and offended. As a viewer, I'm in love with Avatar, the planet, the special effects, the message.

People who saw the movie in 2D don't seem to be similarly affected. It must be the Virtual-Reality Syndrome...
